Dr. Jeff McIlroy is the founder and Chief of Psychiatry for Strength of Mind. His credentials include his current Board Certifications in both General and Geriatric Psychiatry. His undergraduate degree in Biology/Chemistry is from Oklahoma Christian University and his medical degree and psychiatry residency through the University of Oklahoma. As he ventured into private practice, he quickly saw the need for a more comprehensive and multi-disciplinary organization to better meet the community needs in mental health. His vision was and is to make psychiatry more innovative, effective, and accessible. This led to the formal founding of Strength of Mind in 2004. The practice has grown from an organization of two providers and a secretary, to one of 17 providers with a support and administrative team of over 20.

He currently works as the supervising Medical Director of Psychiatry at the geriatric inpatient hospital units in Claremore and Idabel, OK. He is also the Medical Director for the outpatient and crisis stabilization programs with Green Country Behavioral Health Services in Muskogee, OK. Much of the work for the Idabel and Muskogee programs is conducted via tele-psychiatry. His private practices are at the Claremore and Tulsa/Broken Arrow office complexes.

As a psychiatrist, Dr. McIlroy's focus is the diagnosis of illness and the formulation of an appropriate treatment plan. This plan includes provisions for therapies, counseling and interventions, including the prescription and management of psychotropic medication.

Seeing his patients move from a dysfunctional state to a happy and fulfilling one is the greatest reward for his services. This motivates his efforts for continual innovation within his own practice as well as outreach through tele-psychiatry and educational programs. One particularly exciting innovation is that of being the first in Tulsa to provide TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Dr. McIlroy's specific interest in mental health stems from his belief that of all the medical specialties, "Psychiatry is all about life" and the goal of living it in the fullest and best function possible. It is all about how a person feels and acts. He associates it with everything he is involved in such as friends, family, church, and his spirituality. Psychiatry extends beyond the walls of medicine to every aspect of daily life.

In his free time he enjoys rigorous physical activity such as biking, backpacking, kayaking, fitness training, and chainsaw work.
