Janet Pruitt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice with Strength of Mind. She received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa. Her experience with community mental health consists of working with patients with severe and chronic mental health disorders. She also worked at a private non-profit agency in their sexual abuse treatment program as well as the general counseling program.
In 2005, Janet began practicing at Strength of Mind. Having previously been acquainted with Dr. McIlroy and Dr. Rogers, it was a smooth transition from agency work to private practice. As part of a comprehensive treatment team, her practice consists of individual, family and marital psychotherapies. She works with populations ranging in age from 18 years old to senior adults. She also provides supervision to master’s level social work students and master’s level clinicians seeking licensure. Janet has been affiliated with Claremore Regional Hospital providing social work services to the Senior Care Unit and has conducted home visits for a local home health agency.
Janet’s work with her patients enriches her own life as she serves to be a change agent for others. She strives to develop hope in their personal and unique circumstances. It is gratifying for her to help people, especially when they feel empowered to change their circumstances and ultimately improve their quality of life. Personal past experiences have prepared her to relate to others in a very real way. She attempts to create a level of comfort, compassionate and considerate understanding.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, supporting her children in their activities, walking and reading.
