Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a type of psychotherapy designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic memories and experiences. It involves the use of guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like taps or sounds) while the patient recalls distressing memories. This process is thought to help rewire how the brain stores and processes traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and helping the person integrate the experience in a healthier way. EMDR is particularly effective for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related issues, but it can also be used for a variety of other emotional and psychological conditions. It is an evidence-based therapy that is often used in combination with other therapeutic approaches.

Pediatric psychological testing is a process used to assess the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning of children and adolescents. It involves standardized tests, interviews, and observations conducted by a licensed psychologist to evaluate a child’s developmental, intellectual, academic, and psychological functioning. These assessments are often used to diagnose conditions such as ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, and other behavioral or emotional concerns. The results of pediatric psychological testing help guide treatment plans, support educational interventions, and provide insights into a child’s strengths and challenges, ultimately aiding in their overall well-being and development.

The initial visit will serve as an opportunity for parents and the psychologist to discuss behaviors, concerns, and questions. Once all paperwork is complete, testing with the child will be scheduled and lasts approximately 2-4 hours.
